Harris leads Trump 50% to 47%

The latest Napolitan News National Survey of the race for president shows Kamala Harris at 50% and Donald Trump three points back at 47%.  The survey of 2,441 Likely Voters shows that when leaners are included, each candidate adds a point. With leaners it’s Harris 51% and Trump 48%.

The survey was conducted on the three days leading up to the CNN interview with Kamala Harris.

For the last three weeks, Trump was at 49% before slipping a point this week. Harris has been at 49% twice and 47% once before inching up a bit this week. This is consistent with the reality that voters have a firm opinion of Trump and less knowledge of Harris.

It remains impossible to know who will win in November. Given the late entry of Harris into the race, events like the upcoming debate on ABC could have a bigger impact than usual. And, of course, events in the real world like the economy and campus protests could also shift the dynamics.

This Napolitan News Service survey of 2,441 Likely Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on August 26-28, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc.
