Harris 47% Trump 46%

The latest Napolitan News Service survey found Kamala Harris attracting 44% of the vote and Donald Trump earning 43%. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. initially picks up 6% of the vote. The national survey of 2,000 Registered Voters was conducted August 5-7, 2024 by Scott Rasmussen. When we push for leaners, it’s Harris 47% and Trump 46%.

Last week, a Scott Rasmussen national survey found Harris leading by five among Registered Voters (47% to 42%). These latest results could suggest that the initial Harris bounce has come to an end.

Half of the survey was conducted before Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Harris did better on the first half of the survey while Trump did better on the second. The difference may just be statistical noise.

However, if there was a meaningful change, it was likely caused by the stock market losses on Monday rather than the selection of Walz. The survey found Walz was little known. At the same time, the survey found that people were feeling more pessimistic about their finances than the were last week. It is not clear if these more negative feelings about the economy will last.

This will be the last Registered Voter survey conducted by Scott Rasmussen for the Napolitan News Service. Future polls will be conducted only among Likely Voters. This week, the Likely Voter Numbers show Harris and Trump tied at 49%.
