What Voters Actually think is Weird

What’s seen as weird in America is different from what’s currently seen as weird in the political world. Democratic legislators and candidates have spent the last month working to paint Donald Trump and JD Vance as nothing but “weird”. While the messaging has gained traction, what voters actually see as weird highlights just how out of touch the political world is with everyday Americans.

Seventy-three percent (73%) say putting tampons in boys’ bathrooms is weird. Sixty-eight percent (68%) say the same about setting up a hotline for people to report on neighbors’ COVID restriction violations. Similar numbers are found for allowing the government to censor social media posts and allowing boys to play girls’ sports.

On the flip side, 80% say that requiring companies to verify if their employees are U.S. citizens is normal, and 64% say that deporting most illegal immigrants is normal.
