Fewer than half of all voters (44%) know that a presidential debate is scheduled for next week. A Napolitan News Survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted September 3-4, 2024 found that just 26% both knew it was scheduled and definitely planned to watch.
In comparison, before the last Presidential debate in June 2024, before President Biden dropped out of the race, just 34% were aware of when that debate was happening. At that time, only 15% knew about it and definitely planned to watch.
People are still getting to know Harris as a candidate, so the debate could end up making a bigger impact than a typical presidential debate.
