78% Want a Balanced Federal Budget

Seventy-eight percent (78%) of voters favor balancing the federal budget within ten years. However, 66% oppose balancing the budget by raising taxes.

A Napolitan News Service Survey conducted prior to election day found that most (56%) think it is possible to both balance the budget and cut taxes.

The survey also found strong voter support for a number of proposals that would dramatically slow the growth of Federal spending.

The economy was one of the biggest factors that influenced voters this election, but voters don’t just want lower interest rates and lower inflation. The newly elected Trump administration and elected officials in the GOP controlled senate and potentially the house, have a responsibility to listen to the people and find a way to balance the budget through budget cuts and cutting spending on unessential programs.

This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 1, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
