Napolitan Institute Releases Elite 1% Report

McKinney, TX, October 4, 2024 – The Napolitan Institute released its first report on the Elite 1% Friday, highlighting the major gaps between voters and those in the highly influential Elite 1%. This report also showcases the first ever survey of federal government managers, revealing that those who help run the country are much more aligned with the Elite 1% than with voters, and in some cases are even more extreme in their viewpoints. On the issue of individual freedom, half (47%) of the Elite 1% believe that Americans have too much.

The Elite 1% project stems from observations made by Scott Rasmussen, President of RMG Research, Inc. In his weekly polling, he noticed that this key group of individuals had vastly different views than everyday Americans. The Elite 1% consists of people who have postgraduate degrees, live in densely populated urban areas (more than 10,000 people per square mile), and earn at least $150,000 annually. The Elite 1% holds views concerning the relationship between the government and the governed that are significantly different from the voting public. However, these elitists are unaware of the gap and actually believe most voters share their views on important issues.

“The Elite 1% wield a tremendous amount of institutional power but are wildly out of touch with the nation they want to rule.” said Scott Rasmussen. “Over the years they have built institutions and mechanisms of regulatory power that are immune to the checks and balances of elections. Worse still, these same Elites own, operate, and control a large majority of media outlets, blocking out the true voice of the American people and broadcasting their own out of touch viewpoints.”

This study summarizes results from six surveys highlighting key differences of the Elite 1% comparing their views with those of everyday Americans. To receive the full report, visit theeliteonepercent.org
