56% Believe It’s Possible To Rise Out of Poverty

As the land of opportunity, America has long been a symbol of hope and dreams for a better life. Rising out of poverty and into the middle class is by no means an easy task, but 56% believe that it’s possible to do, 29% disagree. The American Dream has been built on the shoulders of those who believed they could rise above and were willing to work for it.

To make upward mobility a reality, just over half of Americans (56%) believe that it’s more important to provide opportunities for lower income individuals, while 34% say it’s more important to increase taxes on rich people.

In the midst of some crying out about the unfairness of wealth in America, the overwhelming majority (73%) believe that if you come up with a popular product it is fair to become fabulously wealthy. The majority of Americans still think that if you work hard at your dream, you should be able to reap the rewards.
